Web push

OS notification to a device

Sends a browser or operating-system push notification to a signed-up device, so someone gets an alert even when dojobase isn't open in front of them.

How it works

Web push is the pop-up alert that slides in from your phone or computer even when the browser tab is closed. When a job reaches this node, it fires that kind of notification to devices that have opted in, so a teammate gets nudged without watching the screen.

It is built for time-sensitive internal moments: a job that needs a fast decision, an overnight run that finished, an exception that shouldn't wait until someone happens to log in. Because the alert lives at the operating-system level, it grabs attention more firmly than an in-app bell.

A device only receives these after its owner has granted push permission in their browser once. From then on, the node can reach them on that device whenever the flow calls for it.

What you set up

  • Make sure the intended recipients have enabled web push permission on their device at least once.
  • Choose which team members or subscribed devices should receive the alert.
  • Write the notification title and body, including job values so it's clear what happened.

Common questions

Why didn't a teammate get the push?

They likely haven't granted push permission on that device yet. Web push only reaches devices where the person has opted in once through their browser.

Does this work when dojobase is closed?

Yes. That's the point. The alert comes from the operating system, so it arrives on the device even if no browser tab or app is open.
