Google Sheet / Doc (read)

Read a shared sheet/doc

Google Sheet / Doc (read) pulls rows or content from a Google Sheet or Google Doc you have shared, so a workflow can run on data you already keep in Google. No copying or re-uploading: it reads the file where it lives.

How it works

Share a Sheet or Doc with dojobase and this node reads straight from it. Rows from a Sheet become records for the workflow to work through; the text of a Doc becomes content the later steps can use.

It suits teams whose real source of truth is a spreadsheet. Your list of clients, orders, or applicants lives in Google and gets edited there all day; this node lets a workflow act on that exact list without anyone exporting a file.

Because it reads the live file, each run reflects whatever the Sheet or Doc says at that moment. Update a row in Google and the next job sees the change, which pairs naturally with running on a schedule.

Common use cases

Real situations where this node earns its place in a flow.

A shared sheet as your queue

Read new rows from a Google Sheet your team already keeps and run each one through a workflow.

Pull text from a doc

Read a Google Doc's content into a flow to reformat, analyze, or route it.

Let the client own the data

Let a customer keep working in their own spreadsheet while your workflow reads it on a schedule.

Google Sheet / Doc (read) in a workflow

A simple example of where this node sits in a flow.

Google Sheet / Doc (read) Read a shared sheet/doc PDF fill Fill template per row → N PDFs PDF merge Combine N filled PDFs → 1 Google Sheet / Doc (write) Write to a shared sheet/doc

What you set up

  • Share the specific Google Sheet or Doc with dojobase.
  • Pick the tab or range of rows to read from a Sheet.
  • Choose which columns or content the workflow should use.

Common questions

Does it change my Google file?

No. It only reads. To write results back to Google, add the matching Google output node.

Will it see edits I make in the Sheet?

Yes. It reads the live file, so each run uses whatever the Sheet or Doc contains at that time.
